There were celebrations at St Albans School this morning as Year 13 students received an outstanding set of A level results, securing places at the UK’s leading universities, medical schools and many other competitive degree programmes.
The school is pleased to announce that 63 per cent of all grades were awarded A*-A, with more than 90 per cent of grades awarded at A*-B, reflecting another year of exceptional academic achievement and opening doors to a wide range of exciting opportunities. Months of hard work paid off for the school’s students, as 46 per cent achieved at least one A* grade, while 12 per cent secured three or more A* grades.
The results will enable students to go on to study at many of the UK’s leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, University College London, Durham, Bath, Bristol, Leeds and Loughborough. One notable international success is a student off to Duke University in North Carolina on a full scholarship, which will support her elite fencing training.
St Albans School students are progressing to study a wide variety of courses. Some have chosen to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science, while others will begin degrees in subjects including engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, architecture and many different humanities. Those with places at either Oxford or Cambridge have chosen to read a diverse range of subjects including languages, music, engineering and law.
Students, families and staff gathered throughout the morning to celebrate the results and the exciting destinations that now lie ahead for this year’s cohort.
Headmaster Joe Silvester said: “Results Day is always one of the highlights of the school year because it is about far more than grades. It is about seeing our students rewarded for years of hard work, determination and ambition, and watching them take their next steps with confidence.
“Every student’s journey has been different, and we are immensely proud of what they have achieved. Whether they are heading to Oxford or Cambridge, studying medicine, engineering, the arts or the humanities, they leave St Albans School exceptionally well prepared for the opportunities ahead.
“These results reflect not only academic excellence but also the character, creativity and critical thinking our students have developed during their time here. We congratulate every member of this year’s cohort and wish them every success as they begin the next chapter of their lives.”
