Filming on a new BBC comedy series is currently underway at a music shop in St Albans city centre.
The Music Department shop on the corner of Lattimore Road and London Road has been transformed into ‘Off the Scale’ for the first season of Anne Droid, starring Diane Morgan as a social humanoid robot, created to keep elderly people company and monitor their health.
The shop is being used as the workplace of the show’s main character’s son, with interior and exterior filming taking place today and tomorrow.
The film crew have set up their green room at Lattimore Gospel Hall – home of a huge scale model of Jerusalem – but Diane is not thought to be filming today (Thursday).
Written by Diane (Mandy, Cunk) and Sarah Kendall (Dreamland, The Other One), the six-part series is being made by Boffola Pictures and Witchcraft Industries for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Shane Allen, executive producer for Boffola Pictures adds: “In a world where AI is creeping in to the creative industry, we’re fighting back in the best way we can: taking the piss out of it. The ball’s in your court Chat GPT.”
