Harpenden’s premier outdoor art fair returns on the weekend of June 7-8 with more than 60 local artists exhibiting to raise money for Cancer Research.
Art on the Common has been promoting local artists for over 30 years, and this year features even more stalls exhibiting and selling jewellery, ceramics, photography, wood work, mosaics, hand-made greetings cards, decorative glass as well as embroidered art and large paintings for your wall.
It is also the perfect chance to come and meet the artists while you browse – with prices starting from £2 for cards ensuring there is something affordable for all price brackets.
Local art and photography clubs will be there to chat about their crafts, and this year includes live demonstrations of traditional lace-making from St Albans Lacemakers.
In 2024 Art on the Common raised over £7K for Cancer Research UK in addition to the £17K raised in the previous three years.
Artscape has agreed to be the event’s main sponsor, offering a discount for framing to any visitors purchasing wall art. Based in Coldharbour Lane, Artscape also offer an extensive range of art and craft materials, stationary products and an online framing service.
Art on the Common organiser Liz Thompson said: “We are thrilled to welcome Artscape’s support in promoting and sponsoring our event. Their help is invaluable, introducing new visitors to the event and followers to all our artists. Their sponsorship greatly increases our donation to Cancer Research UK and we are delighted that they are on board.”
