Mienna Jones

This week: Mienna Jones, an early years expert whose mission is to educate parents, carers, practitioners, and nursery owners on how to truly understand childhood from a child’s perspective. What’s your worst habit? TikTok! I’ve decided to go cold turkey over the last few days and it has been great. I’m thinking of deleting the account altogether.

If you could have a conversation with someone who has died, who would it be?

Great question! Nelson Mandella – I would like to know how he kept his mental strength for 27 years. His body was in prison but his mind wasn’t.

Are things getting better or worse?

Technology has made the world a worse place.

When have you been most scared?

When launching something new – like a business or pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Losing weight scares me as it is hard to do and maintain.

Do you have any phobias? Weetabix, Freddie Mercury – his photo and his spoken voice, he doesn’t sound anything like he sings – and cruise ships – terrified of all three.

If you could travel back in time and offer your younger self some advice, what would it be?

Take better care of my body, a healthy body makes everything easier as you age. And to invest in myself – more self-esteem and be more self aware.

What’s your favourite hidden gem in the district?

Margaret Wix Primary School – I‘ve been there over two years and find it an incredible setting.

What is your most-missed St Albans shop, pub, café or restaurant?

Woolworths on St Peter’s Street.

Which day of your life would you most like to relive?

My wedding day – we were in St Albans Registry Office, low key and lovely.

What’s your favourite place to have breakfast in St Albans?

Molens at The Quadrant – this is my regular weekly spot. Molens is underrated.
