A revised date for the completion of Jubilee Square – the development formerly known as CCOS (City Centre Opportunity Site) South has been confirmed by SADC.
Despite previous assurances that the work would be complete at the end of March, after missing a previous deadline of October, the current date has been given as the end of July.
The scheme includes 93 flats and new commercial floor space on the former police station and NHS site in Victoria Street.
The district council has not confirmed whether they will be picking up the bill for the delays.
The sale of the residential properties to Watford Community Housing is also said to be close to completion, but no details are being provided on the price at this stage.
WCH plans to make 33 of the properties available for social rent and sell 60 apartments on a shared-ownership basis with support from Homes England.
Work on the site actually dates back to the start of 2019, under the previous Conservative administration, when demolition work began on the previous buildings.
Delays to the scheme meant it cost £12m more than originally planned, although SADC pledged the increase in budget to £61m from £49m would be cost-neutral and not affect the profitability or viability of the scheme.
