This week I’ve been exploring wines under £10 and seeking out those that offer outstanding value for money without compromising on taste and quality. Rose, red and an alcohol free spritz made the final five.
Calvet Rosé Cap D’Adge Cotes de Thau 2023 (£8 at Morrisons)
Calvet is one of the oldest and most respected wine brands in France, with a history dating back to 1818 when it was founded by Jean-Marie Calvet in the Rhône Valley. Over the years, Calvet has expanded its operations to include vineyards in several of France’s premier wine regions, including Bordeaux, Burgundy, and the Loire Valley.
Today, Calvet is part of the Helfrich family’s portfolio, which continues to uphold the tradition of producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of each region.
This is a delightful rosé wine from the Côtes de Thau region in southern France. This wine is crafted from a blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, and Merlot grapes which are selected from vineyards that sit between the Mediterranean Sea and the hills of the Thau pond. It presents vibrant and intense aromas of grapefruit and hints of lime. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, making it an ideal choice for summer aperitifs or pairing with salads and Asian dishes.
Marcel Martin Cabernet Sauvignon Pays d’oc 2022 (£8.90 at Dylanwad Wines)

This is a captivating red wine from the Pays d’Oc region in southern France, crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, known for their rich and intense flavours. The 2022
vintage showcases a bouquet of blackberry, cherry, and plum aromas, complemented by subtle notes of pepper and spice. On the palate, it is well-structured with smooth tannins and a long, satisfying finish, making it an excellent choice for pairing with barbecued grilled meats, a Sunday roast or mature cheeses.
Calvet Prestige Côtes du Rhône Villages 2022 (£8/£7 Clubcard at Tesco)
The Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation is a prestigious wine region in the southern Rhône Valley of France. Established in 1966, it includes over 95 villages known for producing superior quality wines compared to the generic Côtes du Rhône.
Wines from this appellation must adhere to stricter regulations, ensuring higher quality. For red wines, Grenache must constitute at least 50% of the blend, with Syrah and/or Mourvèdre making up at least 20 per cent.
This wine was made with grapes from Domazan and have produced which has a rich, dark fruit flavoured wine, with silky, moderate tannins, and spicy notes from Syrah.

Les Grands Chais de France (GCF), the producer behind Nozeco Spritz, was founded in 1979 and has since grown into one of France’s largest and most respected wine producers.
