Pupils from Skyswood Primary School in St Albans read their own compositions from a book of poetry in front of an audience at Waterstones.
Key Stage 1 and 2 students had contributed to ‘Kindness Costs Nothing’, a book of poems based on one of the school’s core values.
Each class had used the theme of kindness in a slightly different way during the autumn term, including kindness recipes, Haiku poems, kimple acts of kindness (kindness is…) poems, kindness superhero poems, ‘My Gift to You’ poems, and even love poems for people who are special to them within their families.
Headteacher Bob Bridle told pupils and parents who had gathered in the café at the St Albans store on Friday afternoon: “Your poems are brilliant and it’s so lovely to have a nice launch like this.”
The 194-page, full colour book is only available from the school, and £2 from the sale of every copy goes to Children in Need.
