Bucking the usual trend of driving rain and/or plummeting temperatures, this year’s St Albans Pancake Race was a balmy affair in warm spring sunshine.
Teams from businesses across the district competed in the St Peter’s Street event, either walking or running races to demonstrate their pan-tastic flipping skills.
They included Lumin Wealth, Youth Talk, KDW, Rayner Essex, Mercer & Hole, Debenhams Ottaway, St Albans Museums, Gilberts, the Cathedral and Wagada Digital.
Now in its ninth year, the event is organised by local children’s charity, Home-Start Hertfordshire, in collaboration with Hertfordshire’s Business Buzz.
Last year, the festival raised £5,534, contributing to supporting local families facing vulnerabilities and in need of assistance, helping them navigate and overcome their challenges.
The 2025 event was once again compered by the indomitable Paul Rosenthal of Amthal Fire and Security, and kicked off with a pronouncement by town crier Stephen Potter.
After a series of closely fought heats, the finals were won by teams from Youth Talk (walking) and KDW (running).
