The Saints of Paint – an artists’ collective featuring current or former teachers for community creative club ArtShed – displayed samples of their work at a special exhibition in the historic Kingsbury Barn in St Michael’s village.
The artists were Stuart Beck, Kathy Evershed, Jayne Evans and Jenny Robinson, who previously exhibited alongside Ben East in the 14th century barn last year.
Stuart said: “We all had a real blast on the first exhibition in 2023 and clearly wanted to do it again this year.
“Unfortunately Ben couldn’t make it this year and we really missed his enthusiasm, fun nature and DJ skills. However, the four of us all get on well and just hanging out in a 1370’s built wooden cathedral is a great excuse to show some of our art off to the public.
“We decided to create our own group name going forward now call ourselves the Saints Of Paint Art Collective.
“There is a lot of effort involved in setting up an exhibition, but we do get to meet some nice people and Kathy and I are even starting to enjoy our stints on the radio having been able to broadcast our event on Mix 92.6FM, all thanks to the fabulous, humorous and very kind Elly O’Meara who makes our time on air a very nice experience.
“This year, all the artists are or have been teachers for ArtShed, which was set up by Kathy and her husband Rupert.
“The exhibitions have worked well because we all have our own individual style of work. It makes for a more interesting experience for the audience and people clearly enjoy the art, shown by their enthusiasm and the fact we all sell pictures at each event. We will continue to exhibit as a collective in future, so stay tuned for future events by the Saints Of Paint.”
