Much-loved historic pub Ye Olde Fighting Cocks has been given five stars out of five in its latest food hygiene rating.
The pub, in Abbey Mill Lane, had been downgraded to just one star following an inspection in March which identified issues with food safety.
As soon as the score was received, the management team took action to rectify the concerns, but then had to wait for the SADC food inspector to make a return visit.
After the new rating was officially announced today, landlord Martin Robinson said: “We’ve been eagerly waiting for another visit as we knew we would regain a 5-star rating because we corrected the issues immediately, at huge cost, when told about them. However it took time for them to return, but we are happy that at last they have given us the rating we think we deserve. And this weekend looks like it’s going to be sunny – so come on down for a drink!”
