Old London Road Pre-School is eagerly awaiting the publication of its latest Ofsted report after becoming one of the first early years settings to be inspected under the brand-new inspection framework.
The inspection took place back in early February on a cold and rainy day, but due to national delays caused by the rollout of the transformed inspection system, the pre-school has only recently received its report and is still waiting for it to go live on the Ofsted website using URN 123649.
The new Ofsted framework introduces seven separate inspection categories, creating a major change for providers, parents and inspectors alike as everyone adapts to the updated system. The categories look in greater depth at areas including inclusion, behaviour, safeguarding, leadership and the overall experiences children receive within the setting.
Although the report cannot yet be made public, staff and committee members at Old London Road say they are incredibly proud of the outcome and cannot wait to share the full details with families and the wider community very soon.
Pre-School leader, Janet Charles said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the report and so pleased that the inspector really captured the warmth, inclusivity and care that make Old London Road so special. It has been a long wait, but we’re excited that families will soon be able to read the report for themselves.”
Chair of the pre-school committee, Jennifer Mouratsing added: “We’re proud to be among the first settings inspected under this new Ofsted system. Like any big change, it will take time for everyone to get used to, but we hope it will be beneficial in the long term and give parents an even clearer picture of early years settings.”
Despite the inspector being delayed in traffic on the morning of the visit and missing the opportunity to speak with parents at drop-off time, families were determined to share their experiences afterwards, with almost all parents emailing in glowing feedback.
Parents praised the pre-school for going “above and beyond” to provide a fully inclusive environment where children thrive, feel valued and are encouraged to flourish as individuals.
Now in its 27th year, Old London Road Pre-School continues to hold a special place in the local community, with former pupils now returning years later with children of their own.
