The opening of the 11th annual Roman Theatre Open Air Festival was a resounding success, with a VIP night officially launching the season.
Guests enjoyed a powerful and gritty performance of Les Misérables directed by Jonathan Holloway in the stunning historic setting of the Roman Theatre.
Supporters included Tim Boatswain, a long-time advocate for cultural heritage and OVO trustee, John Morewood, President of the Architectural and Archaeology Society and Annie Brewster JP, known for her support of the arts, amongst others.
The launch night set a high bar for the remainder of the festival, showcasing the power and magic of open-air theatre to reimagine beloved works in bold new ways. Running until August 31, the festival offers a packed schedule of performances, including a 70s musical adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a brand-new jazz-infused adaptation of The Great Gatsby and OVO’s youth ensemble presentation of Lord of the Flies.
