Fresh from a strong results day, Oaklands College has launched its 2025 post-16 enrolment programme and has already seen more than 2,000 school-leaver and adult students signing up to begin their next chapter this September.
Jacqueline Page, deputy principal, curriculum, performance and student experience, said: “We’re really happy to be welcoming a new generation of learners just as we celebrate some great results. Oaklands is a unique centre of learning in Hertfordshire offering over 300 courses across A levels, T levels, BTECs, apprenticeships and adult learning. We are proud to not follow a one-size-fits-all approach to education and to offer pathways for every ambition—whether that’s university, skilled employment or further training.”
The enrolment programme comes just days after the college celebrated its first-ever cohort of T level graduates. With a 100 per cent pass rate in subjects such as construction, education and childcare, engineering and business and administration, the results marked a major milestone in Oaklands’ evolution as a leader in technical education. Many of these T level graduates will now go straight into full-time employment.
Alongside academic and technical education, the college continues to grow its renowned Oaklands Wolves Sports Academies. With 12 sports academies to choose from, including football, rugby, athletics, basketball, cycling and more, experienced coaches and excellent facilities, Oaklands allows students to combine elite-level training with full-time study.
One recent success story is Sophie Dionissiou, who completed a Level 3 in Sport and Exercise Science while playing for Watford Under-23s. After earning a Distinction and two Merits, she’s taking a gap year to train in the US before studying for a degree alongside her football career. Her teammate, Charlotte Swan, is heading to Chichester University to pursue her dream of becoming a primary school PE teacher.
Oaklands has also made major investments in state-of-the-art facilities, including a £7.5 million High-Performance Sports Centre, upgraded digital, engineering and science facilities, and a new Construction Centre – all designed to equip students with the skills, tools, and mindset to thrive.
