Postbox toppers aren’t just for Christmas… The Sopwell Knitters have crafted a new St Patrick’s Day creation to sit on the Clock Tower postbox.
The Knitters, who meet every Monday evening at The White Lion pub, are well known for their intricate designs which feature as part of the annual St Albans Postboxes campaign.
They had responded to a request from John McGuinness, landlord of the White Swan and Will Hughes, landlord of The Boot to mark the Irish national day.
At a special ceremony marking the unveiling of the topper, knitter-in-chief Nadine Homer spoke of the sense of community within St Albans and the vital role our pubs play in keeping this alive.
John and Will made donations to the Sopwell Knitters’ nominated charity, Rennie Grove Peace Hospice. A QR code for donations to the hospice is attached to the topper and is available in both the White Swan and the Boot as well at the Sopwell Knitters Facebook page.
