A young actor from St Albans is winning fantastic reviews for his role in comedy drama The Great.
Henry Meredith plays Maxim in the third series of the period romp, which also stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult.
He made his debut in the show at the end of the second season, and was originally supposed to be killed off, but his performance at the cast read-through prompted a change of heart from showrunner Tony McNamara.
Speaking to the St Albans Times about the show, Henry said of his experiences to date: “All of the actors are super friendly. We all get along very well. I had some amazing scenes with Gwilym Lee (Grigor) which were great fun and of course with Adam Godley (Archie) and Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult.
“It was unbelievable to think I was acting alongside such experienced people who have amazing careers starting in some of the most successful films and TV shows in recent years.”
Reviewers have called him a ‘scene stealer’ and praised the humour of his performance, to which he reacted: “The reviews and comments I have had are the stuff of dreams. To hear phrases like ‘scene stealing’, ‘favourite character’, ‘highlight of the series’ were incredible to read!”
Henry can also be seen as Stephen Graham’s son in BBC drama Boiling Point.
