St Albans school pupils create gingerbread village

Bernards Heath Junior School's gingerbread village.

After Bernards Heath Junior School teacher Katherine Taylor visited Bergen in Norway and saw the world’s biggest gingerbread city, she was inspired to create something similar closer to home.

The final display, which incorporated almost 150 gingerbread buildings created by almost half the school’s pupils, featured in the school hall in the run-up to the end of term, and included a model train and lighting.
