St Albans pub closing for refurbishment

The Peahen.

A much-loved city centre pub is closing its doors for a month-long makeover.

Historic hostelry The Peahen, at the junction of Holywell Hill, Chequer Street, London Road and High Street, will be temporarily closed between April 21 and May 24.

A spokesperson for McMullen & Sons, who manage the former hotel, said: “The team and everything we all love about The Peahen will remain the same, we just want it to be the best possible version.

“While The Peahen is closed, the team will be on holiday or working at our sister pub, The Saint & Sinner.”
