Pupils, parents, teachers and staff at St Albans High School for Girls (STAHS) are celebrating outstanding A level results.
Principal, Amber Waite said: “We are so proud of our Year 13 students who received their A Level results and university offers today. They’ve worked incredibly hard over the past several years to reach this point, and they have certainly earned the right to celebrate today!’
“Our students have once again far surpassed the national results: 29 per cent of STAHS A levels were grade A* and a record 72 per cent were grades A–A.”
This compares to 9.3 per cent A and 27.8 per cent A*-A grades across the whole of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Highlights for STAHS students today include:
- 51% of students achieved all A* and A grades, with 11 of 88 pupils achieving 3 or more A* grades.
- 9 students have accepted places at Oxbridge.
- 83 per cent of all students accepted offers at their first choice university, and 94 per cent accepted offers at either their first or second choice university.
Each student has completed her own incredible journey at STAHS, and some notable individuals include:
- Emily, the top-performing pupil with As in chemistry, physics, maths and further maths who leaves to read natural sciences at Cambridge;
- Leonie, Poppy, Olivia, Fenella and Bethan, who each earned three As and an A in their A levels;
- Yemisi, Sophie, Derin, Cara and Emily who each earned A* in all three of their A levels; and Joan and Arshya who have earned choral scholarships at Oxford and Lizzie who has earned a choral scholarship at Cambridge;
- Daria who joined STAHS in Year 12 from Ukraine, and has earned four A levels, including an A* in psychology, an A in music, a B in English literature and a C in drama and theatre studies.
Amber added: “She has been a stalwart member of the STAHS community and has performed in numerous theatre productions and concerts. We wish her the very best of luck as she takes up her place at King’s College London to read psychology.”
