St Albans Art Society’s summer exhibition took place last week at Dagnall Street Baptist Church, offering the public an opportunity to see first-hand the work their members have created this year.
Eric Littledike was awarded the 2026 St Albans Trophy, presented annually by the St Albans Art Society for the artwork judged to best capture the distinctive character and spirit of the local area. His winning painting depicts the vibrant atmosphere of St Albans Market.
Yan Yun Gao was awarded the inaugural Inspire Award for Misty Forest. Introduced this year by the St Albans Art Society, the award recognises the artwork that best demonstrates originality, vision, creativity and imagination.
The St Albans Trophy was judged by Gary Spencer, while the new Inspire Award was judged by Linda Blackstone.
There is also one more award still to be announced, the Terry Biggs Cup, which is selected by visitors. The public votes for their favourite artwork (Best in Show), and the winner will be announced soon.
