Work is finally getting underway on replacing a rusting old footbridge over the River Ver behind Latium Close.
Vegetation is currently being cleared on Affinity Water land to enable the installation of a new fence, before a site compound will be set up and work begin on installing the abutments and associated infrastructure to enable the installation of the bridge and ramps, complete the footpath, and replace the Latium Close fence between mid-October to mid-November.
The new bridge will be slightly further upstream which will help reduce its impact on the surrounding area and improving accessibility for all users.
The works have been welcomed by neighbours, with one saying: “As a local resident I am very much looking forward to seeing the repositioning of the bridge and the planting of new trees.
“Fostering a healthier ecosystem will provide much needed support for local wildlife and hopefully create a more enjoyable environment for the whole community.”
