Pancake race raises more than £7K for Home-Start Herts

St Albans’ traditional Shrove Tuesday pancake races raised a record breaking £7,215 to support vulnerable local families struggling to cope.

Organised by local charity Home-Start Hertfordshire, along with Hertfordshire Business Buzz, the event saw 35 teams competing in running and walking races down St Peter’s Street.

Business development manager of Home-Start Herts Liz Le Coze said: “We were thrilled to be out on the streets of St Albans again hosting the 2025 Pancake Festival, along with Hertfordshire Business Buzz! The sun shone and the event was enjoyed by so many teams and spectators.

“It’s really important for us to raise awareness of Home-Start Herts and we were able to raise more than ever, all going towards supporting local families. Huge thanks to our headline sponsor SA Law, all our pancake banner sponsors and the goodwill of so many wonderful volunteers who helped on the day – some travelling as far as South-West London, to help for the day!”

Home-Start Hertfordshire is a volunteer led family charity, supporting vulnerable families who are struggling to cope with the challenges life throws at them.
