A new singles group has been set up in St Albans to [rovide a welcoming space for people over 40 to meet, socialise, and build new connections.
It’s the brainchild of Klaudia Drinkwater (pictured), who suddenly found herself single again in her 40s after heartbreaking relationship split last summer.
She explained: “When I was finally ready to put myself out there again, I started looking for singles events in St Albans that I could join. But I quickly realized there wasn’t much out there that felt right for my age group – most events were either aimed at younger crowds or felt too formal and structured. So, I decided to see if anyone else was in the same boat and would be interested in joining me. That’s how Singles Over 40 was born.
“Since launching two months ago, I’ve been organising a variety of events, from casual meetups in cozy bars to official singles mixers. The turnout has been fantastic, with anywhere from 40- 60 people joining each event, depending on the venue. We usually meet in St Albans, making it convenient for people from different areas to join.
“Our group is diverse, with members from all sorts of backgrounds, professions, and life experiences. Some are newly single, others have been for a while, but everyone shares the same goal—to meet new people in a fun, pressure-free environment.
“We’ve already seen some great friendships form, and yes, even a few budding relationships! It’s been amazing to watch people connect in a way that feels organic and genuine.
“For anyone feeling nervous about coming along, I’d say: just take that first step! I know firsthand how daunting it can be to put yourself out there again, but everyone is welcoming, and there’s no pressure – just good conversation, laughter, and a chance to meet like-minded people.”
