A new community group set up to consider the implications of artificial intelligence is going from strength to strength.
St Albans AI and Automation Forum held its second meeting at The Peahen this week, with 30 people from a wide range of backgrounds joining to discuss where AI will be in a year’s time, and if it will be a force for good or bad?
Organiser Jamie Claret said: “The second St Albans AI and Automation Forum was a massive success, nearly tripling the attendance of our first event. Despite the festive and noisy backdrop of Christmas celebrations at The Peahen, the atmosphere was vibrant and social, and everyone left feeling they had learned something new and gained fresh perspectives. It was wonderful to see such a diverse group of people – from technical professionals and non-technical enthusiasts to parents, teachers, and even a gentleman in his late 70s who reached out after reading about the forum. The discussions brought together people from all walks of life, exploring the opportunities and challenges of AI in a way that was both optimistic and realistic.
“This forum is proving to be a unique space for the community to engage with the rapidly changing world of AI. Who knows? Perhaps these conversations will even influence the future as this technology continues to reshape our lives.”
Joanna Majewski, owner of the bespoke furniture business Nordikka.co, said she is taking her first steps into the world of artificial intelligence.
“I’m a total beginner,” she said, “but I’m eager to learn how AI can help me run my business better.”
Attending local AI meet-ups has been a game-changer for Joanna: “The group is full of advanced users who generously share their knowledge. At the last meeting, I even connected with someone who might guide me further. It’s amazing—and the meet-ups are so much fun!”
