Mobile-first shopping experience at new Maltings fashion store

Charles Tyrwhitt is opening in The Maltings

Leading British menswear brand Charles Tyrwhitt is set to open its newest store at The Maltings Shopping Centre on Saturday – noticeably without a traditional till point as part of the brand’s continued investment in a mobile-first approach to retail.

The idea is that by moving away from a fixed checkout, team members will be able to engage with customers across the shop floor, using technology to support assisted selling and complete transactions while maintaining the sales conversation through to payment.

To celebrate the opening, customers can look forward to complimentary drinks, including bubbles and Tyrwhitt Pilsner beer. The first 20 customers to make a purchase will receive a gift, while an in-store golf ball activation will give shoppers the chance to win prizes.

Founded in 1986 by Nick Wheeler OBE while studying at the University of Bristol, Charles Tyrwhitt began as a mail-order shirt business with the ambition of making a proper shirt that didn’t cost the earth. Four decades later, the brand has grown into an international menswear retailer with more than 100 stores across cities including London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Dubai and Mumbai.
