Minds and bodies set to benefit from fitness charity day

Jane Reichardt and Emma Daisy

Two local fitness instructors are teaming up for a charity event in aid of Mind in Mid Herts, writes Anna Shreeves.

Jane Reichardt and Emma Daisy are hosting a legs, bums and tums and yoga session on May 12 at Nuffield Health.

Last year’s charity session saw Jane and Emma raise more than £800 for St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge.

Mind in Mid Herts offers local services for people experiencing mental health challenges, including one-to-one talking therapies, peer support groups, as well as training for organisations and individuals on improving and maintaining their mental wellbeing.

Jane works as an educational psychologist and got into the zoom fitness sessions during the first lockdown and quickly decided she wanted to offer this same service to other people.

With her background in psychology Jane understands the positive link between mental health and fitness.

She said: “Doing an exercise class is like a hit of endorphins, it is very good for a person’s wellbeing.”

Yoga teacher Emma runs national and international retreats, trains aspiring yoga teachers and holds local classes and events.

Both Jane and Emma want to inspire people to get involved with fitness and are passionate about showing the benefits of exercise for a person’s wellbeing.

The charity session on Sunday May 12 will run from 2-4pm and will consist of 45 minutes of legs, bums and tums, a short break and then an hour of yoga.

You do not need to be a member of Nuffeild to take part in this event – all you need to do is donate on the JustGiving page and then drop either Jane or Emma an email to secure your place.

The session is for all people of all skill levels and has a focus on inclusion and community. To get involved follow this link:
