A rainbow of runners have done their bit to raise funds for new play equipment at a St Albans primary school.
How Wood school organised a Well-Being Sponsored Fun Day and Colour Run to kickstart a campaign by the PTA to hit a £15,000 target for new school apparatus in the Key Stage 2 playground.
More than 160 participants joined in a day of fun and healthy activities including laughter yoga, boxercise, mini-athletics, a skipathon and football, followed by a colour run around Park Street village.
The day was sponsored by Audus Kitchens, TomsWoodHomes and Sparshotts Homes, and instructors included Helen Kirkby, Jess Chattrabutti, HIIT by Laura, Lotte Mikkelson, Super Soccer School and Mini Athletics St Albans and Hatfield.
Niki Rowland, PTA secretary said: “What an awesome day! Everyone had so much fun, and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces! Even though we don’t have the final figures yet for sponsorship money raised, it’s looking very promising that we made a really great amount towards our much-needed new play apparatus.
“Thank you to everyone who took part and did their bit raising funds!”
Headteacher Cynthia Rowe added: “Our wonderful PTA organised this fantastic event which not only promoted positive mental health and wellbeing, but also raised money to replace our KS2 apparatus. The sun shone as we completed the run and all the participants, children, parents and grandparents were splattered with powder paint resulting in a rainbow of smiling runners. Great fun was had by all and I would like to thank our PTA and all the families that joined us for How Wood School’s first Colour Run!
