What a place to work! Newly appoined Bishop of St Albans, the Right Reverend Andrew Rumsey, had the chance to check out his new base of operations and meet the team at the Cathedral last night.

These remarkable pictures, taken by occasional St Albans Times photographer Toby Shepheard, give an insight into the character of the new man at the top of the Diocese.

Bishop Andrew, who is currently the Suffragan Bishop of Ramsbury in the Diocese of Salisbury, was announced in the role by Downing Street at 10am on Thursday.

He spent the day visiting locations in Knebworth and Luton, before taking part in prayer at the Shrine of St Alban and Evensong at St Albans Cathedral.

Bishop Andrew is seen being shown around the Cathedral by guide Stephen de Silva, watched on by the Very Revd Dean Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans Cathedral.
