St Albans District Chamber of Commerce united the genders in celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day at St Michael’s Manor.
The female majority were joined by a handful of males, including several Chamber directors, in marking the annual event highlighting the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, while also raising awareness about discrimination. It was sponsored by local firms SA Law, Debenhams Ottaway and Rayner Essex.
Chamber deputy president Cheryl Luzet, CEO of Wagada Digital, told guests: “International Women’s Day is about honouring the journey that we have been on to get to where we are today whilst also acknowledging the significant strides we still must make towards achieving gender equality across the world.
“Let us remember that while today we celebrate, the most important thing is that we act. Let’s carry the spirit of International Women’s Day with us throughout the year, advocating for change, supporting one another, and working tirelessly to build a world where gender equality is not an aspiration but a reality.”
Following a three course lunch, attendees enjoyed a talk by stand-up comic, author, and executive coach, Harriet Beveridge centred around the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’, followed by table discussions on the points raised.
