Fleetville’s St Paul’s Church has a packed calendar of events planned for the Christmas season, and started off in style with carols in Clarence Park.
The open air singalong saw more than 250 people come along to the bandstand on Sunday afternoon.
The event also featured a competition to find the city’s best-dressed Christmas dog. The winner was cavachon Dougie, chosen by presenter BBC Three Counties presenter Babs Michael, much to the delight of his owner Carol Thompson.
Rev Peter Crumpler, associate minister at St Paul’s, said: “It was great to see so many people turn out to sing carols in the open air around the park’s iconic bandstand – and good to see so many entries for our fun canine competition. Thank you to everyone who took part and came along.
“We’ve been singing carols in Clarence Park for several years, and this was out biggest turnout yet. It’s a great start to the Christmas season for many local people – and their dogs!”
St Paul’s will also be hosting a Beer and Carols evening in the church at 7pm on Sunday, followed by a Quieter Christmas service on Wednesday December 18 at 10am and Carols by Candlelight at 7pm on Sunday December 22.
