The hunt is on to find the most festive dog in St Albans, as a city church launches its Christmas programme by singing carols in Clarence Park.
Singers from St Paul’s Church, Fleetville, will be leading popular carols at the park’s bandstand on Saturday December 6 from 3pm for around 40 minutes and has invited local people to come and join in.
The church is also looking out the canine that is best-dressed for Christmas – and will be awarding a prize to the eye-catching winner that turns up on the day.
Associate minister Rev Peter Crumpler explained: “Clarence Park is a favourite place for dogs and their owners, and we’re keen to include both in our Christmas celebrations. We’re inviting people to bring along their dogs, and to join in singing the well-known carols.”
Carols in the Park marks the beginning of St Paul’s Church’s special Christmas programme.
Seasonal services at the Blandford Road church include a ‘Beer and Carols’ event at 7pm on Sunday December 7th, traditional Carols by Candlelight at 7pm on Sunday December 21, and crib services for all the family on Christmas Eve at 3.30pm and 5pm.
St Paul’s will also be holding a 30-minute ‘Quieter Christmas’ service – a reflective service away from the bustle of Christmas – at 10am on Wednesday December 17. All welcome.
