The search is on for a prized painting erroneously donated to a local charity shop.
St Albans artist Marylynn Ozone had gifted the picture of a mermaid to a friend, who unfortunately gave it away without her knowing, and she has no idea which charity shop was the beneficiary.
Now she has launched a desperate appeal to find out where it has ended up so she can buy it back.
She told the St Albans Times: “I’ve been crying all afternoon about this painting, I really hope I can get it back.
“It breaks my heart that it’s in a charity shop somewhere and there is no way of me finding which one.”
She is asking residents to keep an eye out for her work in charity shops across the district, and posting on local Facebook groups to raise awareness.
The painting is a reproduction of ‘Sleeping Mermaid’ by Viktor Nizovtzev, and took Marylynn 15 hours to complete.
If you spot the painting, get in touch with us and we’ll contact Marylynn directly.
