Verulam students who received their GCSE and Level 2 BTEC exam results today are looking forward to the next stage of their education.
Special mention must go to Thomas Roffe and Henry Skaanild who achieved an average of grade 9 across all of their 10 GCSEs. Another 15 students achieved an average of grade 8 across their 10 or 11 subjects and a further 25 students averaging grade 7 across their subjects.
All of these students achieved the equivalent of “straight A’s” under the previous grading scheme.
The school is also celebrating those students who achieved remarkable progress since joining in secondary school with Anik Rahman achieving almost 4 grades higher on average than his national peers with the same starting point, and Taylor Silcox, Vsevolod Glukhov, Nicholas Salmon, Jack Bude, Oliver Sheen and Joshua Banfield similarly achieving 2 or more grades above their peer group nationally.
Headteacher Fergal Moane said: “These are an excellent set of results achieved by our students, continuing to show improved progress year on year for Verulam. Ofsted noted in their inspection in May that ‘expectations are high for academic achievement’ and I would like to congratulate our students and thank my staff for making this a reality in this summer’s results. We look forward to welcoming a high number of students back to our sixth form and wish the best of luck to those choosing other post-16 options.”
