Local radio station Mix 92.6 is offering residents the chance to become radio presenters; no previous experience needed.
The station is looking for people with a passion for our area who want to join their latest training programme. Successful trainees would go on to present weekly daytime shows on the station. The station is run by volunteers and the presenters would be expected to volunteer too.
Once trained, presenters will broadcast live from the station’s studios in St Albans and work with others to produce local content featuring local people, business, charities and organisations.
Station manager Nick Hazell said: “We want people who have a real passion for our area and we’d especially like to hear from people who are in groups who often don’t find a voice in the media.”
The station is waiving the £70 training fee for anyone who is in receipt of a means-tested state benefit. Nick added: “Radio presenting can be enormous fun, and our presenters learn a lot about the place where they live and the people who live there.”
