Around 30 families from Cunningham Hill Schools spent their Sunday morning clearing paths of litter around the local area.
They were supplied with litter picking equipment from Veolia, arranged by the deputy chair of St Albans Green Party, Cllr Matt Fisher.
Jessica Pyne from Cunninham Infants said: “We met at school, got kitted out with litter picks and bags for both recycling and landfill, then got stuck in collecting rubbish and recycling in the streets surrounding our school on Cell Barnes Lane, leading up to and on The Alban Way.
“This time we collected 45 bags of rubbish and recycling, not our highest amount but still a good afternoon’s work! It’s surprisingly fun picking up the litter others drop, the children really enjoy it, it gets us all out in the fresh air and we’re making a positive impact on our community and environment.
“We’ve also received £750 in sponsorship for two of our litter picking events. Fun and fundraising at its best!”
