Neither St Albans district council or Herts county council have taken any responsibility for unpopular yellow lines recently introduced in a city centre road.
Last year SADC launched a public consultation on plans to remove the single yellow lines and scrapping most of the one-hour waiting bays in Lattimore Road, eliminating the ability for visitors to park in the evenings and all-day on Sundays.
Double yellow lines have since painted on both sides of the road, restricting parking opportunities while also increasing the speed of cars using the street.
But both SADC and HCC are washing their lines of any responsibility.
SADC strategic director for community and place delivery Chris Traill said: “The yellow line restrictions were installed following a public consultation by Hertfordshire County Council, the highways authority, and were in line with the feedback received.
“However, we are aware that some local concerns have since been raised and we are looking into that.”
While a spokesperson for HCC said: “St Albans district council consulted on this and therefore we do not have access to [any details of the consultation].
“This is a St Albans district council scheme so I would suggest you contact them for any further information.”
