Supermarket giant Lidl has launched a community consultation on plans for a new store in the heart of St Albans.
The company is looking at building the outlet at Brick Knoll Park, on Ashley Road, replacing the aging office block and warehouse on the site.
Car parking will be provided on site, with 121 customer parking spaces, including six disabled and nine parent and child parking spaces, alongside twoElectric Vehicle chargers and 12 bicycle parking spaces.
Before submitting proposals to St Albans district council, Lidl is seeking community feedback via a leaflet being delivered to more than 7,000 homes in the area. This leaflet includes a summary of the proposals, as well as a link to an online survey where residents can have their say.
Regional head of property at Lidl GB Kate Bleloch said: “We have been looking to bring a new Lidl food store to serve St Albans for some time, and are delighted to share our plans to deliver a store on Ashley Road.
“The new store would increase shopping choice, create new local jobs, and provide access to our award-winning and affordable products. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to have their say on the draft proposals as we progress a planning application.”
