Jason Manford has apologised to fans in St Albans from his hospital bed following an emergency operation.
The comedian had a “scary” 24 hours, where he was struck down with appendicitis on the motorway, on his way to The Alban Arena.
Now recovering with Vimto in a Manchester hospital, he has penned a note to theatregoers who were necessarily let down at the last minute.
Manford, 44, said: “Appendix surgery all went well. Bit of a scary and extremely painful 24 hours but thankful to our NHS and my incredible nurse mum who’s a godsend in a health crisis.
“My advice would be to not get appendicitis, whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway. I’m gutted that I’ve had to move dates this weekend and I’m so sorry for the late notice to so many people in St Albans.
“I thought I could get by on antibiotics and surgery at a later date so I could still do the shows but was advised not to.”
The father-of-six explained that he’s had to cancel his holiday to Portugal and cannot now fly out to meet his family as planned.
Salford-born Jason thanked fans for their get well messages.
Stand up show ‘A Manford All Seasons’ was postponed minutes before curtain up at The Alban Arena on Wednesday – and is rescheduled for October 20.
Refunds or venue credit are available to ticket holders who can’t make the new date, it was announced online on Wednesday. Customers are advised to keep hold of their original tickets.
