New Greens resident Myah Richards has cerebral palsy, is legally blind and wheelchair bound. She suffers from dystonic tremors and functional neurological disorders. last year she went to a festival for disabled people thanks to fundraising support from the St Albans community, but now she needs more help for her ongoing care…
Thank you to all of those that helped support the holiday of a lifetime which I went on in 2024. I enjoyed things like trampolining, clubbing and the whole Mersea Island Festival as well as my Nutley Edge activity break where we did candle-making, karaoke and music therapy. These pictures are of some of the things that your donations helped me enjoy by allowing me to ensure there was adequate staffing for me for the whole time.
To allow my personal assistants to continue supporting me and my adventures adequately, I have to pay a lot of my care cost myself starting with my client contribution weekly. I have set up another GoFundMe so that my PAs can continue their amazing work with me.
Pictured are some of the amazing adventures than my PAs have been able to facilitate since the holidays. This is partly because I am no longer a student for the time being until my next course starts in September and as much as we tried to avoid me having to do this fundraising so soon, it is unavoidable as social services will not help.
We managed to get the amount reduced from what they were asking for originally, but because now I need an increase in hours it means I must contribute. It doesn’t matter if can afford it or not, because someone on a finance panel decided that I can afford it. Everything is so expensive, and I can’t afford it. If I would have had paid the client contribution, I would have the increase in hours but no quality of life. To get them to increase the hours I will have to pay this client contribution of anything up to £79 per week and I would appreciate your help to do so.
