A guerilla street artist has turned his attention to rundown properties across St Albans city centre.
Nathan Bowen, who primarily works in London, describes himself as “The Artistic Gangster” and actively seeks out dull and lifeless spaces to transform with new and inspiring works of art.
His signature characters are known as The Demons, and seen on building site hoardings across the capital, but also as far away as Sao Paolo in Brazil, Southend-on-Sea and Berlin. In 2012, Nathan starred on an episode of BBC TV’s The Apprentice, which saw contestants sell his artwork in a pop-up gallery as part of an urban art challenge.
Now his quirky style has reached St Albans, with at least two different pieces seen on the former Bucko’s sandwich shop in Victoria Street, and a long-empty site in London Road – both highlighted by the St Albans Times as eyesores in need of improvement, so thank you Nathan!
