In June 2024, Old Albanians’ Cricket Club hosted some of the greatest names to have played the game of cricket, with more than 1,000 people watching the sport’s legends take on local players.
A networking lunch saw 400 diners sit down in a marquee for a three-course meal and entertainment, followed by a T20 match featuring many world-class international legends.
Now, two years later, a rematch has been arranged for Friday June 12, featuring the likes of Sir Gordon Greenidge, Sir Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Saqlain Mushtaq and many more big names in cricket.
This year OACCs have teamed up with local charity Herts Young Homeless, with fundraising split with their volunteer-run junior section.
The charity’s community fundraising officer Nicola MacKinnon said: “We are thrilled to be working with everyone at the cricket club. The club is such a key part of the community here in St Albans and the chance to connect with the members over the coming years will help to raise awareness and money for the charity. Starting with an amazing event like Lashings in June will really get us off to a flying start too. All the money raised will help us to support young people locally at risk of homelessness.”
The club is now calling on local businesses, individuals and groups to get in touch and come down to enjoy what they hope will be another fun filled day. Businesses should contact Lashings@oldalbaniancc.co.uk to reserve a place, while members of the public should visit Eventbrite for tickets.
Entry is £5 in advance, £7 on the day and a car park is available on site at £7.50 per car.
