The Oaklands Wolves men’s first basketball team have achieved a remarkable milestone – securing the NBL Division 2 Pool B title and promotion, with two league fixtures still left to play.
Their dominant campaign has seen them win every league game so far, building an outstanding 16–0 record that places them comfortably beyond the reach of their closest competitors.
From the outset, the squad set themselves the ambitious target of promotion, and their consistency and composure across the season has turned that goal into reality. Their unbeaten run reflects not only technical quality on the court but also the discipline and unity that has defined the group throughout the campaign.
Head coach Liam Jefferson praised both the results and the mentality shown by the team. He said: “I am incredibly proud of the team, not just for the win which secures us the league title and promotion, but for how they have embraced all challenges so far this season. It takes a special group of players to set a target like promotion at the start of the season and pursue it week in, week out in the way they have done.”
Winning every league fixture to date is a rare achievement at this level, and the Wolves’ perfect record is a testament to months of hard work, preparation and collective belief. Despite already securing the title, the team remain focused on finishing the regular season strongly, with the possibility of completing an undefeated league campaign firmly in sight.
As the regular season draws to a close, the Wolves’ promotion marks a significant step forward for the programme, and with the play-offs approaching, the team will aim to build on their success and continue what has already been an extraordinary season.
