We ask a different figure from the local community to choose 10 questions to answer from a list of 50. This week: St Albans’ 481st Mayor, Cllr Teresa Heritage, who represents Harpenden South and will raise money for Community First Responders and Pancreatic Cancer UK during her tenure.
What’s the first thing you do after you’ve woken up in the morning?
Look at my mobile phone to ensure I am up to speed, especially to check my family are OK, the weather and the national news.
Who was your first best friend?
Rosemary Gilligan – we are still besties after 64 years!
What items do you always carry with you?
Mobile, diary, paper tissues.
What TV did you watch as a child?
Woodentops, Andy Pandy, Crackerjack.
If you could have a conversation with someone who had died who would it be?
My Dad. He died when I was 18. We would have a lot to catch up on!
What object would you save first if your house was on fire?
A Lladro statue of two nuns that my father gave me for my 18th birthday.
What was your best subject at school?
Geography.
Were you well behaved at school?
Yes! A bit of a goodie two shoes. I have respect for authority.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Too many, probably about 30! I love shoes!
What was your first job? Saturday job at Clarks the bakers, Borehamwood. My first proper job was at Lloyds Bank, overseas branch in Pall Mall. That was back in the time when gentlemen wore bowler hats! Gosh I sound like a dinosaur.
