We ask a different figure from the local community to choose 10 questions to answer from a list of 50. This week: Sue Wybrow, who describes herself as Chief Legwarmer Wearer at Popdance World, owner of The Businesses Community, Dance Teacher Directory and Wybrow Associates.
Do you remember your first kiss?
Yes, quite vividly – LOL – it was at the school disco dancing to Zoom by Fat Larry’s Band with a chap named Wade Michelle – the dance where you just held on to one another and just walked round and round in a circle – hilarious. I kept my mouth closed throughout the whole experience. He he!
Have you asked anyone for their autograph?
Yes, lots and lots of people. My parents took me to the theatre a lot when I was younger and we always hung out by the stage door. My autograph book is pretty full with the likes of the cast of Hi-Di-Hi, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, Michael Crawford, Tommy Steele, Roy Castle, Frankie Howard, and I just recently added Matthew Broderick aka Ferris Bueller.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I never did grow up – LOL – but I always wanted to be a writer – and I did start a chick flick novel a few years back – need to finish it one day!
Which three people, living or dead, would be your ideal dinner party guests?
Definitely Matthew Broderick – loved him since 1985 in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley (can I have two for one?), and the cast of Friends.
Most inspirational St Albans person – living or dead?
David Jenkins of Brilliant Theatre Arts – this guy is incredible! He’s so much fun, is totally passionate about what he does, is always super keen to help others and he’s just a joy to be around. Love him!
Favourite St Albans band?
It’s got to be Ramona Marx – the energy these guys have is absolutely incredible! One to watch – and my son is also in the band #nobiasthere 😉
Favourite St Albans pub?
Love the Six Bells, The Lower Red Lion, The Portland Arms, The Mad Squirrel, The White Hart, The Boot, – actually, sorry, I can’t pick a favourite – we are totally spoiled by so many amazing pubs.
St Albans hidden gem?
I have to say that Cositas in Holywell Hill is always a super place to visit. Emma is fabulous and has such an eye for all things clothing, home and gifts. And the stock changes all the time – so always worth popping in.
What items do you always carry with you?
My phone, poo bags, keys and a tissue – walking the dog all the time can give you a runny nose 😉
Most missed shop in St Albans?
Claudes on Holywell Hill – it was such a fantastic galette place – and they served the best beer around – Pelforth – it was such a cosy, wonderful place – very missed.
