We ask a different figure from the local community to choose 10 questions to answer from a list of 50. This week: Sarah Chambers, fundraising, publicity, administration and volunteer co-ordinator for local charity Open Door, which provides community-based support for people facing homelessness in St Albans.
When have you been most scared?
Summer 2013 – I lost my three-year-old at a music festival. Luckily, she had an ID bracelet on, and a lovely lady phoned me, and we were reunited. Scariest 10 minutes ever.
Do you have any phobias?
Yes, I can’t drive on the motorway. I physically wouldn’t be able to, which is very annoying. I’ve had CBT to try and help. The closest I’ve come is believing I could possibly drive on the motorway in the future.
What was your first job?
Sweets and magazines department. Jarrolds -Norwich.
What’s your favourite St Albans car park?
Is there a good one? They’re all rubbish. However, The Maltings is probably the car park I use the most, as it’s close to the shops. Not a fan of the ridiculous spaces, though.
Who was your first best friend?
Joanna. We met at nursery and went to the same primary. We went to different secondary schools as I moved to Norfolk and coincidentally ended up at the same university. She’s godmother to one of my children, and I have known her for over 40 years. My mum and hers, are still best friends.
What TV did you watch as a child?
Roseanne, The Wonder Years, The Little House on the Prairie. Wizbit.
How long would you survive a zombie apocalypse?
I feel fairly prepared. I’ve watched enough of The Walking Dead.
Were you well behaved at school?
Yes. Always.
What are your preferred pizza toppings?
Hawaiian. Pineapple on a pizza very much belongs.
Do you ever Google yourself?
No. Never. But I’m going to do it now. So, yes?
