We ask a different figure from the local community to choose 10 questions to answer from a list of 50. This week: Influencer, personal stylist, denim expert Karen Jennings of StylingOut50, a senior stylist at The Dressing Room for 17 years, and manager, director and franchisee of St Albans’ late-lamented Levi Store.
What’s the first thing you do after you’ve woken up in the morning?
I chat to partner Dom and our two kittens Levi and Wilbur. I’m turning into the crazy cat lady!
What TV did you watch as a child?
Thunderbirds, Wacky Races, Sesame Street, The Monkees, The Flintstones and The Hair Bear Bunch.
Were you well behaved at school?
Yes. Super shy and I wouldn’t say boo to a goose.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A hairdresser – my Dad was having none of it!!
What is your favourite single item of clothing?
This is a hard one as I have sooo many. My current fave is my Hayley Menzies cardigan but I have some Penelope Chivers boots on the way and they could take over!
What is your most-missed St Albans shop, pub, café or restaurant?
The Levi Store for obvious reasons.
Where do you most like to have a picnic in St Albans?
In Verulamium Park down near The Waffle House. Take out waffles with my sister and nieces and nephew, just perfect.
Who was your first best friend?
The first best friend that I can remember was my imaginary friend Hammy the Hamster from Tales from the Riverbank.
What’s your worst habit?
I don’t listen enough and I use too many exclamation marks!!
Where do you walk when you want to think?
I actually like to sit in my garden when I need to think and soak up the rays. That’s when the sun’s out obvs! If it’s cloudy or raining I walk into Harpenden town centre up through Rothampsted Park.
