Styles in the City: Effortless hair with a nod to ’90s grunge

The team from Trinder at London Fashion Week.

Marc and Sophie Trinder from Trinder Hair in George Street offer their advice on how to get the latest looks…

London Fashion Week has returned and Marc was asked by L’Oréal Professional to lead a team of hairdressers from salons across the country for the Central Saint Martins MA show on the British Fashion Council main stage. It was such a privilege to be asked back after heading up the team for the same show last year!

Marc said: “It was such an honour to lead a hair team for Central St Martins for the second year running. These students are the fashion stars of the future, so working alongside them and getting to see their creations in person gives me such a buzz. The atmosphere backstage was electric.

“Being able to give my own stylists opportunities like this makes me so proud.”

The brief was effortless hair, lived in textures with a nod to 9’0s grunge.

Here’s how to get the look using L’Oréal TECNIART products. All of these products are applied after hair has dried naturally.

• Spray the hair with Tecni.Art Pli and use your fingertips to work the product through the hair.

• Spray the mid lengths and ends with Tecni.Art Beach Waves to add texture and a lived in feel.

• Add a little Density Material to the roots for a slightly lived in day old look.

• For textured hair, spray with a little Curl Expression Curl Definition and shape the hair with your fingers.

This look is so versatile, easy to do and works with the natural movement and textures of your natural hair. It is so refreshing to achieve a look that goes with what your hair wants to do naturally without fighting it.
