What makes Harpenden the UK’s number 1 most desirable town, as reported in a list collated by estate agent Savills?
That was the topic of a photography competition organised by the Harpenden Society in conjunction with Harpenden Photographic Society.
Dozens of entries were received, with the winners announced at the HPS’s recent photography exhibition at High Street Methodist Church.
One of the organisers, Martyn Reed from the Harpenden Society, said: “As can be seen from the winners’ photographs the creative input and quality was exceptionally high which made judging quite difficult.”
HPS chair Steve Collins added: “Our annual exhibition was selected as being a natural venue to announce and display the winners as it showed how much photographic talent abounds in Harpenden.”
The winners all received Waterstones gift tokens and free membership of the Harpenden Society, with their images included in the photo archive to be used on future promotional material.
They were: Railway Tunnel – Brian Cooke; East Hyde – Katharine Tate; Station – Tim Tate; Queen’s Head – David Whitbread; Harvesting – Debbie Dennis.
Winners of the HPS’ own photography competition will be announced in the coming weeks.
