St Albans favourite Per Tutti is set to open a new restaurant in Harpenden’s Vaughan Road.
The Italian will be taking over the vacant premises previously occupied by Rosanna’s and The Gingerbread Man.
Meanwhile, there are no signs of any action to resolve the long-standing dispute over the former M&Co store.
Oakman Inns wanted to convert Kingston House into a three-storey pub, complete with roof terrace, but the proposals were thrown out by SADC planners.
Peter Borg-Neal, CEO of Oakman Group, said this week: “We were extremely disappointed to be refused planning permission to develop Kingston House in Harpenden. We believe our development would have given Harpenden a huge boost. The refusal was despite the fact that we had the support of the local Conservation Officer – whose views were disregarded by the committee. We have been the victims of rampant nimbyism and an incompetent planning department. It is no surprise to me that they have been put under special measures.”
