From tossing the caber to haggis hurling, displays of Highland prowess returned to Harpenden’s Rothamsted Park on Sunday for the annual Highland Gathering.
Organised by Harpenden Lions, the Scottish-themed event also included Highland dancing, marching pipe bands, archery and live music.
It was all in aid of charities Harpenden Mencap and Carers in Hertfordshire.
Lions president John Powell said: “The popularity of our event seems to grow each year, and we like to think this is because of the wide range of activities, entertainment and stalls we can bring to you.
“But we must remember that the event is a major fundraiser, and typically Harpenden Lions Club is able to give in excess of £15,000 to charities as a result of the Highland Gathering, with more money being raised by the charities at their own stalls.”
