A chance to see some of the finest examples of local amateur photography is just weeks away from opening.
Harpenden Photographic Society’s free annual photography exhibition takes place on Saturday April 26 at High Street Methodist Church in the town.
The show features inspirational work from local photographers, with images including landscapes, macro, street, abstracts and the natural world. There’s something for all tastes in this exhibition, with numerous award-winning images on display, including many taken in and around Harpenden. Harpenden Photographic Society chair Steve Collins said: “We’re very excited to be bringing HPS’s annual photography exhibition back to the High Street Methodist Church, and I am delighted that we will be showcasing almost 200 of the finest images from our talented members in this amazing collection of prints.
“The exhibition is completely free to attend and suitable for the whole family. As is tradition, we’ll be encouraging each visitor to vote for their three favourite images, and the member who took the most popular image will receive a trophy at our annual awards.
“This year we’ll also have a section showcasing the club’s special interest groups, including our very active outdoor, street and macro groups. If you are interested in learning more about the photographic society, meeting some of our members or would like to enquire about joining, then please come along and have a chat with our friendly team who will be around throughout the day, and can answer any questions you may have about membership.”
The HPS Photography Exhibition takes place from 10am till 4.30pm.
Now in its 89th year, Harpenden Photographic Society caters for all abilities – from beginner to the more advanced photographer. Meetings are held from September to June on the first and third Tuesday of each month either in person at Harpenden Trust Southdown or over Zoom.
